Modern Architecture Pop-Up Book

From the blog Science + Progress, I was reminded about this book which I'd meant to post about a while ago. Available October 7, The Modern Architecture Pop-Up Book, published by Rizzoli showcases three-dimensional replications of some of the most innovative modern and contemporary architecture from around the world. Ranging from the nineteenth century to the present day, the pages follow the development of modern architecture: the creation of new buildings and innovations that led to such feats as the Brooklyn Bridge; the birth of the skyscraper and the modern city; mid-century modernism, and the cutting-edge architecture of today.

Aside from the buildings themselves, I'll be poring over the pages wondering, "how'd they figure out this pop-up stuff, anyway?!" – GF

Location, location . . . what a location!

Having glided many times in a silent double-decker Swiss train along the western edge of the strange-colored yet beautiful Walensee, I was very interested to read Nico Saieh's post on this terrific house, designed by k_m.architektur, which is poised over the lake with a panoramic view of it. Nico's post is on Arch Daily, which is always good reading.

Next time I take that train ride I'll try to tear my eyes away from the stunning scenery and try to spot this house! – GF

Question: Does anyone know what makes the Walensee such a strange blue? I did some feeble research, but found nothing.
